Hoi! - Bert from topo2 here. I hope you missed this newsletter cause it’s pretty damn late. I truly have new admiration for all those pros doing this thing on a weekly basis. That said, this mailer is an important part of the topo2 dream so I will keep giving it priority but in between getting releases done, events going, and all the other life stuff, I think it’s realistic to say it will roll out a bit more unfrequent than I had initially in mind. Keep your eyes peeled!
In good news, I have an rather overstocked edition for your this time. Firstly, the second release on topo2, the debut album from illusive producer Windu called Juxtapose, released last week and I couldn’t be more happier with the response. Resident Advisor, Minimal Collective and Philip Sherburne’s Futurism Restated newsletter featured the record and it got support from a smörgåsbord of great artists, with a.o. ZULI, Carista, Lefto, Call Super, Polygonia, Loek Frey, DJ Plead, and Elena Colombi. More about the record below.
Secondly, and I hope people keep taking me somewhat serious, I have my favorite releases of 2024 lined up for you. That’s right, it’s the second half of March and you will be getting a retrospect of last year. I’ve made the point before that EOTY list in November and December can’t possibly take into account the whole year, but posting in March is also pushing it. However, I hope you have a bit more appetite for lists again as nobody else posts them now and there is a lot to discover!

b. topo2 headlines
1. Compiled from over 250 tracks created between 2017 and 2024, Juxtapose is Windu’s first ever release — a freeform, shapeshifting snapshot of sound. This release is very dear to me as it is a project I’ve been working on for multiple years together with my (actual) brother Windu. There’s nobody in the world who had a bigger musical influence on me than him and I’m so proud his artistic work finally sees the light of day.
Juxtapose entails the spirit of topo2 in its core as it refers to the countless nights and dj-sets we did under that moniker back in the day, genre-hopping like there was no tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did getting it together.
